Process Samples

Samples are fun. They are fun to make, and it is satisfying being able to hold an example of what we do. It also provides our salesmen with an additional resource to show potential customers. The photos show here are of the Aqua Bright™ Baja Blue coating over existing pebble surface (Pebble Tec, Stone Scape, etc.). This is just one possibility with the new resurfacing process we offer for swimming pools. Another variation not show here is a smoother finish, virtually hiding any of the pebble texture, but at an additional price (for labor and materials) is not standard.

This durable, dual layer coating is both scratch and chemical resistant. When the coating is applied it melts into the surface and into itself forming that impermeable continuous protective coating.

Protective Vehicle Coatings

Another market for Restoration Green Team is the use of coatings, or linings, for vehicles. There are a wide variety of applications for our ecoArmor™ protective coatings. Our ecoArmor™ is tough, durable, and provides an anti-slip surface to protect your vehicle through the revolutionary technology of thermoplastic powder coating. The majority of our customers in this market use our ecoArmor™ in truck bed lining.

We now offer our ecoArmor™ protective coatings to ATV users, providing a unique, and custom finish for all their all terrain vehicle needs. Below are images of our latest project coating the bed of a Yamaha Rhino. We also coated the break pedal and floor panels in the front. The coating covers every inch of the bed and walls and even matches the bed mat quite well.

Upon completion the customer seemed very excited. He commented that “the entire bed seems tighter,” and it “doesn’t rattle as much.” Furthermore, he “is no longer worried about getting the bed wet.” Our ecoArmor™ is securely bonded to the metal bed, creating a continuous protective layer over the metal.

Monthly Maitenance

This month during our monthly maintenance of equipment, we found a damaged part inside one of the soda pots. We knew based on the performance of the soda pot that the part was beginning to fail but this is the worst we’ve seen to date. In the images below, the old piece is on the left while the replacement part is on the right. This tip along with the o-ring it fits into, control the amount of blasting media that flow out into the blast hose. Many of the blasting medias cannot be recycled, so to manage costs being able to predict the amount of media used per square foot of blasting is essential.

Campus Crossings Project

Restoration Green Team is expecting to receive the contract in the coming weeks to refinish the Campus Crossings Apartment complex’s pool and spa. The Campus Crossing Apartment complex at Star Pass (2525 W. Anklam Rd, Tucson AZ) has an 80,000 gallon pool and separate smaller spa. The details are in being hammered out and work should commence in January 2010. This is the largest project to date for the revolutionary Aqua Bright™ pool finish, nationwide, and hopefully will be the first of many to come.

The photos shown here are from the Campus Crossing at Star Pass website. The pool currently has a few superficial cracks and is in need of refinishing do mainly to the heavy traffic the pool receives from residents and events held by the apartment.

RGT is expecting to recieve the contract to re-finish the Star Pass Apartment complex’s (2525 W Anklam Rd, Tucson AZ) pool and spa within the next two weeks. Future of Pool Resurfacing

In November 2009, Restoration Green Team signed a licensing agreement with ecoFinish™, an eco-friendly high performance pool finish company. RGT now holds the exclusive rights to sell the ecoFinish™ product in Arizona. The agreement opens up new possibilities for pool resurfacing to residents of Arizona. The Aqua Bright™ colors provided by ecoFinish™ are an exciting addition to our already standard pool resurfacing colors.

What is the process:
Thermo-plastic powder coating has been around for several years, but now is being applied to pool resurfacing across the country. A dual layer protective plastic coating is adhered to the existing structure. It covers plaster, pebble tec, and tile while providing a durable, scratch and chemical resistant coating. Polymers in the plastic contain an anti-microbial additive reducing algae’s ability to hold onto your pool walls, reducing your pool chemical costs. There are no VOC’s in the plastic, so it is environmentally friendly. Also, because the old surface is left intact, we do not take a larger amount of debris to the landfill, lessening our impact.

Valley National Bank Dome

In July of 2009, Restoration Green Team began the restoration work of the old Valley National Bank Dome that once stood in Tempe, Arizona at the corner of Apache and Rural. ASU’s Surplus Yard was home to the 195 golden panels and was the location for the panel restoration. Dry Ice Blasting was utilized by RGT in removing 47 years of dirt, grime, and jet fuel residue (as it was under Sky Harbor Airport’s flight path). All together the panels, including top and bottom, totaled sum 16,000 square feet and over the 30 days of dry ice blasting some 30 tons of dry ice were used.

The dome was re-erected at the Vista del Sol complex at 701 E Apache Blvd in Tempe. Bold lighting at night and the massive black steel supports highlight the golden dome above.

History:
The Valley National Bank built in 1962 at the corner of Apache and Rural in Tempe, AZ. It’s futuristic geodesic dome was made of anodized aluminum. The bank was part of a trend in banking after World War II to open banks close to customers and to offer services like drive-up windows. It then became the visitor center of Arizona State University until it was demolished for dorm expansions. The outcry of local valley residents saved the golden dome from destruction and for two years it sat in ASU’s surplus yard waiting to be restored, and resurrected.
